Fused Deposition Modeling Process
Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) is an additive process used to create highly accurate and robust prototype parts in accelerated timelines, directly from a CAD file. Models are created layer by layer using a thermoplastic extrusion process, resulting in a product that is more robust than parts created from similar prototyping processes.
The FDM process is the ideal choice for building assembly and inspection fixtures for low and high volume manufacturing. FDM is also becoming recognized, in some applications, as an option for manufacturing end use production parts (Direct Digital Manufacturing).
